I checked my primary E2500 router with Tomato 1.04 (1.05?) Shibby, I think, firmware. Maybe ToastMan, I don't remember.
Anyways, I get -60 dBm for eth1 (2.4Ghz), and I get -88dBm for eth2 (5Ghz).
Does that indicate noise on the 5Ghz band? I used to get -99dBm.
Unfortunately, I'm using these as bridges, and I don't own any 5Ghz-capable client devices (that I know of), so I can't run InSSIDer on the 5Ghz band. I'm in an apt building, and the 2.4Ghz band is pretty-well saturated.
(Edit: The router has a site survey feature, I used it, and my router is the only one it sees on the 5Ghz band.)
Was debating earlier about getting an AC router (see my Hot Deals thread), as prices have come down nicely on them, but if I'm getting that much noise also on the 5Ghz band, would it even be worth investing in AC?
I'm currently getting 35-40Mbit/sec over 5Ghz bridge mode, and I have 75/35 FIOS. It would be really nice to get my full FIOS speed to all of my machines, but 2x $120 is a steep price still (for me at least). I spent $35 + ship ea on my E2500 routers, and I bought 4 (one spare, using three of them).
