Noise complaint

The other day we got a noise complaint while playing Super Smash Bros (64 (as if I would be caught dead playing any of the more recent (worse) games)). I'd say it was louder than I'd usually play video games, but less loud than I'd prefer to watch a movie.

We live in an apartment with the thickest walls I've lived with in the last 4 years.

Boring lame neighbors..

My last neighbor was pretty awesome - I could watch movies at reference level and he insisted that it didn't bother him. Works for me!

I'm still looking forward to buying a house, though.

This is one of the reason I'm excited about moving to my house. Only 10 days to go!

Yes - buying our house has definitely moved up the date at which I will suffer permanent hearing loss

I would talk to your neighbors - if you know which one - and just politely tell them that they can let you know if it ever gets too loud. If they are pricks about it - buy a dB meter and take measurements to counter their claims

I used to live in an apartment and the fucker next door (our livingrooms shared a wall) would play his fucking TV so loud I could hear it clear on the other side of the apartment. I'd call and complain and they'd go talk to him first, and of course he'd turn it down, so that when they came over to see why I thought it was so loud, they'd say "This isn't loud at all!"

I'd tell them the fucker was lying, and I even recorded it once. The complex stopped answering my phone calls. I picked up and moved in 3 days. Stupid fuckers.

Good business plan for an apartment complex: drive out all the working-class tenants so that the fucking welfare fucks can blast their surround sound all day.

I will never live in another apartment again.
