American Airlines provides these in Business Class and I have to say I was VERY impressed - did an excellent job of . They were Bose (4-letter word around here I know) and sell for freaking $300, so I know there has to be a set out there that's comparable or better for less dinero. Anyone have experience with other sets and/or have any suggestions?

I've heard the bose and they were pretty good. They're something I can reccomend, except its not really a comparison to anything.

A fella at a local indoor pistol shooting range let me experience his hi-end set.
I don't remember the brand but I was truly surprised how they canceled the noise out.
Yet normal conversation could be heard. I have no suggestions but I do know how well they work....:sun:

No. It actually has a device that sends opposing sound waves to cancel the noise. Or something like that :p I have some sony's and they cancel the low humming well but you can still tell there's a ruummmmmm sound. Works good enough, I bought them like 3 years ago they're MDR-NC5's. But I'd probably recommend you get something better than those hehe.

Try wearing disposable ear plugs. They make even flying near an infant a tolerable experience.

Sennheiser's noise-cancelling model is the PXC 250, they are definetly comparable to the bose and sony ones and only $150 too. www.head-fi.org is the ultimate resource for anything headphone related

ANR headphones for private pilots are great. The most expensive ones on the market are BOSE and they are $900 bucks. compared to other companies like David-Clarks are $600

sony ones should be best. they go into the ear and that alone plugs off a ton of noise. 150bux.

These are in speaker form, but does anyone know if they're coming out with larger models to say quiet down a room?
