noes! i owe on my taxes!!!

I was hoping to get some back this year......but alas, i owe $86 to the FEDS, but i do get $10 back from state.....yay!

I agree. We usually try to come out even or owing slightly, but this year I picked up a lot more freelance work than usual so we actually owe 4-figures. W4s are going to be adjusted quite a bit this year.

I got $4,500 back. Ouch. I'm now withholding 9 on my W-4.

But I'm guessing you aren't a working middle class family or you'd have seen it too.

Good grief. Three things:

1) I'm a big fan of having someone do your taxes in order to minimize what you owe the government. People pay us to work on their computer, so why don't we pay accountants to do our taxes?

2) If you're paying more taxes, it (almost always) means you're making more money, so stop whining.

3) Getting a refund back at the end of the year is a bad thing. It means you gave the government an interest-free 12-month loan. You could've invested that money.
