My subscription for NOD32 runs out in a few days and I'm wondering wich AV is better?

Kaspersky offers one of the highest (if not the highest) malware detection rate in the industry, see the antivirus detection rate thread for more info.

Kaspersky also offers hourly definition updates, which means they also have the quickest new threat response time in the industry. The system resource difference between NOD32 and Kaspersky is minimal, as both use little ram / system resources.

However, there are a few problems with Kaspersky and you could be in the minority that experience these problems. I strongly suggest that you use the free trial of Kaspersky before buying it. For more information on what users are running into, see this thread.

If you do not wish to pay, AOL offers AVS (Kaspersky Lite) for free, please see this thread for more information..

Currently, you can get Kaspersky Internet Security for free after MiR, but like I said... use the trial before buying. You can upgrade the trial's license without reinstalling it when you buy it by entering in the key that comes with the product.

If you do not want the other features KIS has to offer, simply only install the antivirus component, it is modular.
