I keep hearing rave reviews about these.

Are they really good? One model puts out 44CFM at under 20 dB!

Crack...mmmmm so good. Anyways back to topic. Id like to buy one, but i cant really justify paying that much for one. Just buy a delta and put it on a fan controller. Might be around the same price, but if temps get high just turn a nob and BOOM your running cool again.

Im running 3 sanyos on my ran, might be a tad loud, not over 40dba though. But thats where my fan controller comes in.

If you need cheap, buy a Yate Loon from Jab Tech and undervolt it. YL = 1300rpm, Nexus is just a YL undervilted to 1000rpm. I use Nexus, but I'd consider trying Noctua in the future.

I bought one of their medium-speed 120mm's... It's well packaged and looks cool, but honestly it's not a whole lot more effective than the Yate Loon D12SL-12 I used to run in it's place (exhaust).

I know there's a lot of tricks to make fans quiet such as undervolting but these seem to run reliably and quiet at full speed. :)

Those "tricks" only work if you starting with a smooth fan to begin with.

Personally for case cooling I can't think of any reason to go with anything other than the Yate Loon D12SL-12. If you need them to they push a decent amount of air at 12v and become practically inaudible when you start to drop the speed.

lol... as someone above stated, i cant justify the reason to get them either. I would require about 5 to cool my performance setup. Thats around 100 dollars in fans.

>.< ummm i'll take my 5 for 3.25each Yate Loom deal at jab-tech any day over them :D

Did anyone catch the 26 120mm fan review done over at XtremeSystems?

Interesting read.....seems that the Noctua, while very quiet at low rpm's, also has a very low cfm output at the same rpm's. The short quote about the Noctua was: "Quiet only buys so much when the blade design is grossly inefficient.:

The Yate Loon SL turned in an impressive performance for low speed, very quiet fans as did the Silverstone FN121.

The Papst 4421FGML and the Sharkoon Golfball 2000 were the better choices in the medium speed, low-to-mid noise fans.

Go here to read the review.....pretty good read.

He did not test the S-Flex line nor a few other popular choices of fans. He does plan testing others, like the S-Flex, at a later date and the results from that testing should be easily comparable to the currently tested crop.
