so please help me out here..
ok something i download off of morpheus had a false name/discription so when i got it i beleave it totaly screwed my computer..it gets really slow and my dsl icon is in constant green with the bytes sending and receiving like crazy..i have tried deleting this file but it says
"Cannot delete ---------------:Access is denied. Source file may be in use."
i really need to fix what ever this problem s i just bought this computer(its only a few weeks old)
i have tried to press ctrl+alt+delete to close the program if it is running but its not listed..

Hey there, try closing morpheus. It may still be in use, which would prohibit your deleting efforts.

i dont know how to delete manualy from DOS..can you explain?
oh yea i wasnt in morpheus..i dont use files in there i just download them

to delete files in DOS .

go to STart > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt

then switch to the right directory using command cd <directory name>, back down a directory using cd ..
to delete, use del <filename>

it happens to me once .. i would say download adware {adaware?} ...
restart the pc .. dont run morpheus and try delete the file again.

hmm, i never thought about that... i just assumed that wasn't the case

and bobbytron, do a search on google. it's something like rm filename (or something like that).... use cd to change directories, and dir to list directory contents.

Unless you downladoed a virus, it has nothing to do with morpheus that your sound is screwed up.

Windows me sucks ass, get 2K or XP.

to delete a file in dos: del filename.ext
to change directories in dos: cd dirname
to go up a level in the directory tree: cd..

You removed Morpheus through the Control Panel I hope:
Start --> Settings --> Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs

Also, remove programs that are named Kazaa or Kazaa Advertising Support of something. Morpheus is based on Kazaa, and Kazaa is supported through spyware that it installs when you install Kazaa or Morpheus.

If you know the name of the file you want to delete, you also need to know "where" it is located. For example it might be located on your C: drive in the directory that Morpheus uses for incoming files. I believe that would be:

C:\Program Files\Morpheus\share

IF that is the case do this:

Start --> Programs --> Accessories --> MS-DOS Prompt
or however you start DOS. From their type the following commands

c:
cd "\Program Files\Morpheus\share"
del filename.ext

-----------------------------------------

where "\Program Files\Morpheus\share" is the directory that you know the file is located in and where filename.ext is the name of the file that you want to delete (del).

Did you click on it to run it? Are you running a virus scanner? Have you rebooted?

Remeber the location and name of the file. Probably c:\program files\morphues\my shared folder. Make a boot floppy, and boot off that.

When you're done booting, you should be at a prompt like "A:\>"

Type in "C:" <enter>
cd progra~1 <enter>
cd morpheus <enter>
cd myshar~1 <enter>
del filename.ext <enter>

That's assuming the file is in the location I mentioned up top.

Remove the floppy from the drive, hit <ctrl-alt-del> to reboot. That's probably the easiest way to do it.

If Windows says the file is in use when you try to delete it, you won't be able to delete it from a command prompt. Either safe mode or straight dos is the way you gotta do it.

Is it still possible to get into safe mode in ME?
