mine got to be the easiest. Start the car. Leave the curb (no car in front nor behind) and drive forward to the red light (like 100 feet). Turn right. Go one block. Turn right. into a dead end with no car whatsoever. Do a 3-point turn. Go back the same route to the starting point. Stop the car. Done. No parking, no reverse. no nothing.

btw, it's Boston.

Yeah, Massachusetts driving exams are truly a joke.

At least they make us do about 50 hours of Drivers Ed now to be eligible to take the test (40 hours class/10 driving with instructor).

Licensed to drive. Yes, that's right. I don't know what the hell I was so afraid of. So I got to the DMV at 9:45. By the way, appointments mean absolutely NOTHING. I waited in line in my car for like 30 minutes. When I finally got to the front of the line, they tested me on all these functions of the car.

And then the lady told me to turn the defroster off, and I was thinking to myself, "What? It's not on, is it?" And I didn't exactly know how to control the defroster so I just turned on the climate screen and pointed to some random button. I guess I got it right. lol.

Then we went to the Glenmore area, and she told me to pull over to the side and park. So I did that, but then when I went in reverse, I totally hit the curb, so I was like, "Oh damn, the test is over now." She didn't say anything, so I guess she didn't care. She had to have noticed it though 'cause it was so freaking obvious. Anyways, the rest of the test was pretty easy.

We just went to Fremont Blvd., Thornton Ave., and Dusterberry. So when I got back to the DMV, she told me to park in the reserved parking. She just started writing this stuff and handed me this paper and said, "Go to window 11." And I was just like, "Umm, okay..." 'cause she didn't even say if I passed or not. So yeah, I passed with four mistakes. It's amazing how you can get 18 errors and still pass.

I really think the only way to fail a driving test is if you end up killing 2 or more people during the 10 minute test..

lol

if we touch the curb it goes down as minor, things like nearly having a crash or coming to close to cyclist etc can get you a major error which is automatic failure

some driving instructors here are super strict...and will mark down even the slightest mistake like not lookin in your mirror when you pull away from some traffic lights.

i only got 3 minors (your allowed 15) 🙂 😀

I paralell parked once, during practice with an instructor.

My first car was a Dodge Ramcharger (nearly impossible to paralell park) and my current car is an Expedition (even harder).

I also don't like parking on the street since my car is wide and I don't want it to get clipped.

On my test, I choked on the paralell parking part. The week before I was putting a car in a space three feet longer than it. And I drove too slow, three months later I get a ticket for doing 60 in a 45...

...yeah, I got those little problems taken care of.

Mine was in Nebraska. It was all in suburban roads and involved covering about 4 blocks total. Asked me to do a couple of turns, one light and return and park. By the way, I have never had a ticket or accident and I'm now 24.

My behind the wheel test when I was 16 consisted of driving out of the parking lot of the strip center the DMV was located in, turning right onto the main road, turning right on to a street that ran beside the strip center, right onto a street that ran behind the strip center, and right back into the parking lot of the strip center. Total time couldn't have been more that 4 minutes and maybe 1 mile total distance.

Holy crap, we took the same test!

The wrinkle for me was at the beginning, I backed out of the spot and started towards an intersection in the strip center, but someone had their car overheat in the dead center of this intersection. I looked at the guy testing me as we approached it, and he said "just go around him". Ok, so I go around on the left side. I'm about halfway past the car, when the guy who was behind me floors it and passes both the steaming car and me on the right. The situation wasn't a big deal looking back on it, but to a 16 year old taking their driving test, it sucked.

Even at 16, it bothered me how easy the test was. I figure I could train a monkey to pass this test.

I didn't have to parallel park on my exam. I rarely have to parallel park, which is good. My car is small, but doesn't have power steering, so it can be a real hassle.

My test, from the mid-90s....was a 30 question mc computer test. I got 29 out of 30 without ever picking up the book to study. The worst part was the driving exam: 4 right hand turns....basically driving around the DMV building. It was such a joke. I don't wonder why I've lost 8 ex-classmates in 10 years to driving accidents.

Sounds like he at least went out on the road, yes? Not that that makes his test better.

My test took place in a coned off section of a parking lot the size of my apartment. And believe me, my apartment isn't that big.

HAHA, here in alberta it is as follows.

at 14 you take your learners. 20 multiple choice and you can drive with someone that is over 18. You can be driving if you dont know what a car looks like.

at 16 you take your license. Now it is GDL so there is night curfew and people limits, but it is still a license.

When i took mine, at 14 the multiple choice was about a 5 minute test, my driving test included drivingup the street, turning right, parallel parking and going back. I was docked 5 points because i didnt opposite shoulder check during parallel park. The examiner said I was one of the most calm students he had ever had.

I am now 20 so I have had it for 4 years.

Bah, pussy 😛

I had a 98 on my road test until I WTFCUT some car off doing a left turn at an 4 way intersection w/ no traffic light or stop sign. Then the bitch deducted 10 points from my score. That's back in 97.

They didn't even make me parallel park, three point turn, or any of that.

I went about one hundred yards, took a few right turns. Took a few left turns, and bam back at the DMV with my license.

I just got it like a week ago too.

I've had friends fail for being 2" over a line for parking...what state are you in?

I was the only one in a group of 12 guys that I used to eat lunch with back in high school to get my license the first time. It was pretty ridiculous... they failed some of my friends because other drivers on the road cut them off, etc.

That wasn't a bitch, dude. That's what they call an INSTRUCTOR! 🙂 Just doin' her job...

BTW, I got a 97 as I tapped the curb a tit with a tire during the parallel parking part. 😛 My test was ~3-4 miles total and lasted about 15 minutes.

i failed my first time with 1 mistake because a "cut a left turn too short"

i was coughing my lungs out a the time so i bet i got the guy sick
