i rang the place that advertised the radeon 7500 for real cheap $350 nz and aparentlyisnt made by ati!!! its made by some company called jupiter and has powered by ati written on it.

whats the go guys reakon this would still be as good as the ati retail ver?

i cant find a site for jupiter wonder if its the same 4ns ram etc..

reakon i should steer clear and get the pixleview gf2 ti for same price?

gf3 ti 200's are 700 here so im talking half their price.

No it's most likely not ATI retail. These cards are probably OEM spec rated meaning lower clock speeds.

It has a lower core/memory speeds, and will not have as fast a RAMDAC. You won't have an ATI warranty, either... I'd just go for a real card like a real Radeon 7500 or GF3 Ti200 off of a reputable dealer like newegg.com... ATI's drivers stink and they lower their image quality to give better FPS each driver release, so I'd go for the GF3 over the 7500, but that's my opinion...

GoldenTiger, you probably missed the 'nz' part (New Zealand). Over here you can buy a good car for the price of a GF3, these 7500's are insanely cheap compared to what we are used to. It says on their site that it has the 4ns ram. I'm actually very tempted to buy one as I need a card to match my new system. Larno, if you end up getting one let me know how it goes, sound okay?

cheers

Okay did a little research on it. This jupiter card has 270mhz core and 230mhz ram, according to ATi's site on the 7500 -
Supports up to 230MHz DDR memory
So if this card has lower ram speed I guess everyone else that makes 7500's is running them out of spec?
Okay and I don't know about the core, what are they usually running at?
And the RAMDAC, I don't know why anyone would have theirs at less than 350mhz, so unless I missed something that shouldn't be a problem. But it does say DVI interface with 165mhz TMDS transmitter, wth is a TMDS transmitter?

edit - Okay a quick search on google and I found ATi brand cards have a 290mhz core, and 230mhz mem (460mhz DDR).

what I do know is that if the card has the ATi logo on the back, it most likely is made by ATi (it could even have the same RAM as the retail ATi), which means you get their filters for 2D.

I think all OEM ATi 8500's and 7500's are built by ATi (don't quote me on that). However with cards being actually built by different manufacturers now (or very soon), you'll have to be careful that you get the OEM one you want. I personally would simply stick with ATi unless a 3rd party manufacturer comes out with one better (ie, better filters). I have seen at 1152x864x100hz a difference compared to 1152x768x85hz in terms of text crispness (ie, the lines aren't quite as thick looking at 85hz, though at 100hz they still look good imho). I think thats what you guys are talking about when it comes to 2D quality..

anywho if I can see that, perhaps I have a bad card (it's a Radeon LE), or perhaps I'm looking at the wrong thing 🙂

all I can say is, BRING on the reviews! if I can find a 3rd party card that has RAM chips of equal speed (ns rating) of the retail ATi Radeons, and is cheaper with similar 2D quality (though I don't trust reviewers too much with that), or an OEM ATi Radeon with the same RAM as a retail Radeon, I might snatch one up..

but, that would have to be an ultra cheap radeon, cause I'm an ultra cheap guy 🙂

wel if you go here you can gop to the product page and see that this "jupiter" manufacture is puttin 4ns ram into this 7500, far as i can see on the specs the only diff is that the clock is 270/230 instead of the ati retail of 290/230.

can anyone see or know anything that makes this card look to ddogy to spend a fair bit of money for me on?

DFI is also supposed to be making ATI Radeon cards now. If I were looking for 3rd party card, I'd be looking for DFI.
.bh.

Soccerman it is a ultra cheap card 😱) its $350 New Zealand not sure bout currency exchange i think its somewhere around $120US ?
