We need this sort of attitude. A country has a duty to defend it's borders.

There are too many cry baby liberals here in the states. They believe people have a right to break the law if it means improving their lives.

I applaud my Australian cousins for taking a stand against illegal immigration.

Abbott is still a wise and beautiful woman, but his policy against the boat refugees is effective.

Australia is awesome in this sense.

A few years ago I watched some show on the Australian customs/immigration system and was amazed how thorough they are. No fooling around.

An American lady was caught in customs with secret plans to work for a friend of hers that owned a pub, but of course pretending to be just a tourist. They stopped her, questioned her about how she planned to support herself for several months in the country (she had no real answer) called her friend, questioned her, and eventually the whole secret work-plan unraveled.

Her visa was denied and they put her ass on the next plane back home. Basically, no tolerance for people conspiring to undermine the native job market.

Totally the way it should be done. Only boneheads with agendas to undermine their fellow countrymen with illicit labor schemes float the notion that enforcing immigration laws and a nation protecting its borders/citizens is some kind of terrible thing.

LOL, Uganda has no means to be even remotely close to Australian surveillance

That's the point. Australia has no means to be even remotely close to American surveillance. ASIO is buying their tech from US firms.

Sounds like Australia is a better place in that regard, but then again most countries are.

It's great how he is trying to communicate to the illegals that they should not trust people smugglers - you know, the same illegals who probably don't speak English that well and wouldn't have access to this video to begin with.

Oh well, the warning was thrown out there,... open fire.

This thread is rich in irony. Perhaps it is expecting too much of people to know the history of Australia

I agree with this, look at illegal(and legal) immigration to the United States and Europe from third world. It's destroying economy and increasing crime.

Maybe they're just learning from the mistakes of the past inhabitants of Australia.

The illegals then should learn from the successes of their predecessors. Like introducing some deadly diseases in the local population

Too many leftists get cathartic chills flooding the country with dependents to sign up on welfare for it to ever work in the US. Wasn't Frances Fox Piven Obama's professor at Columbia?

It's nice to know when I need to escape there's one country with a sensible immigration policy to go to when the welfare state collapses here.

You are living in an illusion if you think they will welcome you there. There is a great dislike of Americans (called seppos insultingly) there, to say the least

They also have a publicly funded universal health care system. I think some of the people admiring Australia in this thread may want to reconsider.
