Howdy. I recently purchased an xp 1600+ here on anand. It was to replace my older 1.4 tbird. While I was waiting for it to come in the mail I decided to do some case modding. I took my motherboard (ecs k7s5a) and put it on my computer desk and proceeded to hack away at my case. Well today my cpu come in so I put my mainboard and everything back together in hopes of cranking up some ut2k3. To my dismay I have no video signal. My first response was to check the seating of the cpu. It was fine. I checked the ram. It was fine too. Cleared the CMOS. Checked video card (gf4 mx420) and it was good. I reseated the ram in different slots. Nothing but a blank screen torturing me. I thought well I didn't clean the hsf and surface of the cpu I'll try that. Maybe there is some leftover arctic silver on there or something. I cleaned the surfaces and still nothing. I checked the risers to see if it was grounding out on the case. Nothing. I even took it all out of the case, set it on my anti-static mat and tired booting. Still nothing. Basically I'm all out of ideas. I installed it with great care not to zap it. If you guys could help me out it would be great. I hope my fears aren't reality (the cpu is deader than a door nail). :|

Stupid question here..have you tried putting your orginal cpu back in to rule out the mobo being dead? If it works with it, it's easy to guess which part is bad...

Uh I sold it already. So I do not have any spare cpu's to check if it's dead or not. :(
