No Video Output: Aspire Timeline 3810TZ

Hello everyone,

I'm just posting this up to see if anyone has any ideas.

I have a user with an Acer Aspire Timeline 13.3" laptop, Intel M(R) Express chipset integrated graphics. Basically, the LED no longer displays any output. Tried the "Fn" key to toggle btwn laptop display and ext display but that didn't work; tried the brightness keys.

If you boot into Safe mode and or remove the integrated adaptor in Dev Mgr you can get display output to work thru the vga adaptor to an ext monitor on the side. The BIOS has no info on video adaptor or possible settings changes.

Anyone have any input as to what I can use to determine if the LED has gone bad? This lap is only 2 months old, but I am in Italy and I think Im going to have to ship it out for warranty repairs if needed.

Any input would be appreciated.

You mean your display died and they VGA connector is flakey as well?

Wow, been a while since I posted this. Thanks for the interest, but the laptop had to be RMA'd for the motherboard to be replaced. The onboard graphics failed. The only way to get output was through the external VGA adaptor.

Actual time was just over 8 days from pick up to return of the laptop.
