No video on bootup with new computer... mobo issue?

This is a double post but its my only day off and if I don't figure this out today I wont get it done for weeks.

I just built a new computer for my girlfriend, and I'm having a problem. Everything seems to be popping on just fine (mobo lights up, hd/dvdrom are running, cpu/case/gpu fans are spinning around), but when I turn it on the monitor doesnt turn on. Usually it has an orange light that's on when it's off, and turns green when I boot up the computer (this is the monitor from my other computer) - I turn the computer on and I get the "No Signal" message. The gpu fan is running so I'm assuming it's working.

Any ideas?

Thanks

EDIT: well I noticed the 12v 4pin wasnt plugged in, so I plugged it in. Seems with that plugged in it wont boot at all! Unplug it and everything boots (except the monitor of course). Another thing I noticed is that the 4pin in the PSU fits on the mobo with ease, but the little shapes on the connector are facing different directions than the input on the mobo...

EDIT AGAIN: If I plug the 12v in it wont boot at all, but to get it to boot w/out the 12v I have to unplug the 24pin and replug it. Every time I try it with the 12v and it doesnt boot I have to unplug the 24pin and replug it to get anything to happen.

I had a very similar problem on an AMD rig I build about 6 months ago. In my case it turned out to be bad ram. But with the 12v issue I'm wondering if you might have a bad power supply. What Parts are you using? Specs might help.

Thanks for the help thus far. We're going to pick up a new power supply in about an hour to see if that't the problem. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I've had a TON of trouble w/ Gigabyte boards and G.SKILL ram. So much so that I RMA'd 8 total Dimms and finally gave up. My current RAM (bottom of post) is rock solid. When I received 4 new Dimms from G.Skill recently, they ruined my wife's other Gigabyte board. I replaced that board and put in OCZ ram and it works fine.

Needless to say, something about Gigabyte and G.Skill in my house = not happy together. It's not power related because both PCs are on UPS' and have had power supply's replaced in the past. It's also the RAM that goes bad and prevents the board from giving video to the monitor. Anyway, to put a long reply short; try booting w/ just one dimm and see if that works. If you have access to another type of RAM, try that as well. good luck.
