Ok so my friend has an alienware area 51 with the p4 3.4ghz chip in it. Its been having heating issues lately and been shutting down alot. He thought it was his video card so he went out and bought a 8800gtx and installed it. Then his computer would only boot to the windows loading screen then crash. I confirmed that the problem was probably overheating and a possible power issue since the gtx requires 450watts and he has a 480 peak psu in his system. So I slapped this on the cpu:

and
http://www.compusa.com/products/product...C_System_650_Watt_ATX_12V_Power_Supply
in the system with some artic silver 5 on the cpu die.
I plugged everything back in, and the computer will turn on and act like its booting but I get no video from the pci express slot with the 8800gtx or the old Radeon x800. I should also mention im using the DVI-VGA adapter as he has a vga 21" gateway crt.
Everything is plugged in I believe, I even checked my wiring twice, do you think it may need a new mobo, any help is much appreciated. I have built 6 computers in the past year and havent seen this before.
Thank you!
