Just bought a socket a combo from someone on the fs/ft forums.
Specs are Chaintech NIF2 matx board/axp 2000/antec trueblue 350/spire hsf.

I set everything up but as soon as the plug for the psu hits the back, all the fans start spinning but i get no video?
I tried holding the power button to turn off the computer but the only thing that will turn it off is turning off the psu!
is the mb fecked up or is it user error on my end?
Ive built alot of pcs and this is the first time ive seen anything like this.

One way to find out if it's the case connector that is making the unit to auto power on is to disconnect all the case connectors and then turn on the PSU. If it still power's on by itself, then the mobo could be fubar. But to make sure it's the mobo, then dismount the mobo from the case, place it over a board and then power on the psu again to see if it will auto start. If it does, the mobo is fubar. With the case connectors disconnected, and the unit does not auto power on, you can try powering it by shorting the two pins (Power SW) that connects the case power switch with a flat tip screwdriver.

Could be the memory, the graphics card, or the motherboard. Can you reset the BIOS (motherboard) to its default settings?

I've seen 2 things cause this. The CPU not seated correctly, and the clear CMOS jumper out in the clear position. Try re-seating the CPU, and make sure that jumper is in the correct position, I've seen some boards shipped with the jumper in the clear position. Also make sure there are no standoffs out of placing shorting to the board, that could also cause this.

yup
the motherbaord or cpu is dead, when turning on the pc now i can smell a burnt smell coming from the socket, hence why im assuming its the cpu as well.
Oh well i guess ill eat the loss on this one.
