No Thermal Paste

Oh, would you guys recommend I buy some Arctic Freezer for example? Can I at least do as much as booting up and basic use with the paste on the heatsink?

The paste Intel has on their heatsink is just fine for light OCing.

If they somehow missed applying the paste, you'll definitely wanna get something.

I just got my E6600. I ordered some AS5 as well because I wasn't sure if the stock fan would have any thermal paste on it.

As long as I have the AS5, I might as well use it. What is the best way to remove the stuff that's on the fan now?

Just use some Vegemite, if you have some on hand.
Or maybe even toothpaste.

I hear that the Baking Soda in the Arm&Hammer stuff transfers heat WAY better than
Crest.

Also, it'll give your CPU that nice bright SHINE.

Yes, but keep in mind that stuff like toothpaste dries out so quickly that it would be useless for anything but the shortest-term applications.

The intel applied paste works just fine but you will want some as5 around just in case you should have to take it off. To clean the hsf and cpu off use a cotton ball with alcohol and let it evaporate completely before applying the as5 or whatever you might be using.
