No taxation without representation ?

Regardless of the Constitutionality of Federal Income tax,
(Article 1 Section 9 vs. 16th Amendment)

Doesn't it go against the founding principles of this country to
tax those who aren't being represented in the Government.

Specifically, individuals who cannot vote (minors and felons)

Without representation, shouldn't they be exempt from taxation ?

I didn't think minor's were taxed. I think they get back all taxes when they file their returns. I'm not sure about felons, but I don't see where they have an income to be taxed.

If minors make more than their deduction/exemption, they have to pay taxes on their income. People in jail can work jobs to make money. This money is taxed. However, these individuals gave up their right to participate in the politcal process when they were convicted of their crimes.

Interesting point about minors being taxed but not being represented... Saying that minors should have to pay taxes since they use public services is BS. There are plenty more minors that don't pay taxes that do use these public services. Just because they are working when their peers aren't doesn't mean that they should pay taxes. However, taxing minors helps prevent abuse of the system. If a parent owned their own business, and paid themselves and employees out of the business, they could pay their children to avoid the income taxes of paying themselves.

Nope. Minors, typically, are dependents of adults. So, in essence, they are represented by the adults responsible for them.

Felons made a choice. And in most cases, with some capital crimes excepted, most felons can apply for reinstatement of their civil rights after a time period, usually ten years.

What's the point of sentenced incarceration if you are not considered to have paid for your crimes
upon release, and must forfeit such basic libereties as the right to vote untill someone considers reinstating you.

I can see disallowing voting in prison, but once someone is released, they should not be barred from it.

As for minors, I'm not saying they should necassarily be exempt from income taxes, but if they are taxed, they
should be given the right to choose their repesentation and be allowed to vote.

TNTrulez is right. I wonder about Washington DC. Why don't they get senators and reps?

They do have Representatives. IIRC, they have 3.

If I remember correctly, though, some or all of them are non-voting members in Congress. Funny, though, the current DC license plates carry the phrase "No Taxation Without Representation", and there are signs around DC bearing the same phrase.

Then you'd have (dirty) politicians lobbying for the felon vote who will be leaning towards giving felons benefits or equal services or perhaps having 'mishaps' (for which they surely are innocent) expunged from their criminal record.

Nu-uh. Been convicted of a felony? You're out on your ass as far as political representation is concerned. Sorry.
