This isn't exactly uncommon. I know some LEOs in North Dakota don't carry them due to this exact reason.

Though, I find it odd that all these independent security agencies carry tasers but the local PD doesn't.

sigh... my story isn't bullshit. my ex's father was a prison guard and he hooked her up with all sorts of shit. we'd get fucked up at a party and i'd steal her tasers, my friends and i would tase each other because it was hilarious. my older brother had the 1.5m volt taser and we had my cousin hit me with it in my parents living room. i actually was hit by it twice in the leg. the first time it caused my muscles to spasm and i fell down, the second time i was like "im not going to fall" and he hit me again i tried not to fall but i bumped him which caused him to hit me again and make me fall. i have no reason to lie about being tased, i've done it with various different types.

News Flash!! Irrational fears lead to more stupid laws.

How is not being killed by moron cop on a power trip an irrational fear?

You take toys away from children if they hurt themselves or others, until police grow up and learn responsibility they can't have their toys back.

?? No answer??

No he would have probably tried to tackle me and one of us got hurt badly. If I did a double leg on him his head could have hit concrete and city is paying millions in benefits for family or vis versa. Taser, instead, drops the biggest men like a rocks because you have no muscle control everything just locksup and you hit the deck.

Stop being such Luddites and accept electricity applied to the PNS most effective, least damaging and painless way to apprehend a unwilling suspect. Is it overused, sure. Deal with that not the tool.

Have you ever watched "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"?

I have no problem with "shock therapy" if it is truly needed. I just think it's a powerful tool that is too easily abused. That's why I posted earlier in the thread that "taser cams" should be mandatory for civilian police. This BS about more training is just that, BS. If they want to use tasers then they better damn well be justified when doing so and I don't want to just take their word for it. Record it for posterity.
End of story.

Bottom line as a good potion of police today can not handle suspects. It's not like the old days where they were all bruiser x-linebackers.. You have women and diminutive men not to mention fatties while trying to control a situation where young men can kill you with bare hands in seconds if they get a hold of you. Taser takes the fight out of them an levels playing field without shooting suspect. Your camera idea sounds good to me though. Would make cops use it more judiciously.
