no sound...

lozina

Ok I believe I've tried everything I can think of and can't figure out why I'm getting no sound out of a fresh install on an older computer. It's got the SoundBlaster Audigy platinum and the device manager shows no issues with the device or drivers, everything is fine accoridng to it. I can play music but no sound is coming out of the speakers, and I verified the speakers on another PC. I also checked every place I can think of that has a volume control which could be set to mute, including the windows volumer control under Accessories/Entertainment, the volume control under Control Panel (which is probably just another way to get to the same thing), and a volume control in the software which came with the creative labs install CD. Anything I'm missing?

couple of things:
1) does the Audigy work in another computer
2) does the computer have onboard sound
If so, check that the audigy is the primary audio device, if so, check to see if the onboard sound works (by changing the primary audio device).

those things are kinda reaching for ideas. Sounds like you've tested most of the obvious ones. (assuming you do have the correct outputs on the sound card... I've done that one before. felt really stupid afterwards)

Good luck.
