I just installed my new santa cruz, after uninstalling all drivers for my old AWE64 of course. When i first boot up and try to play anything, i get a screeching noise. I am pretty sure all my connections are correct, so now im stuck. If i run the "sound check" it says everything is normal, but then i cant play any sounds at all. NOW I CANT EVEN GET THAT HORRIBLE SCREECHING SOUND!!!!

SOMEBODY PLEEEAAAASE HELP MEEE!!!

im going insane . . .

Most likely culprit: you haven't installed drivers for the SC. XP doesn't automatically install any drivers for it. You'll just hear a blip from your PC Speaker until you get the drivers installed. Grab the latest 2K/XP drivers from TB and give it a whirl. This card works perfectly under XP.
