The power to the speakers comes on both AMD and Realtek drivers are installed correctly according to Win 7. I checked the BIOS and everything shows up as enabled but for some reason I can't get any sound to my speakers?

MB Name: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.990FXA-UD3
BIOS version:
CPU Name: AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight-Core Processor
Memory information: Total physical memory 16347 MB
OS information: Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit version
CD version information: AMD 9 series Utility DVD 1.9 B13.0401.2

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Have you opened SOUND in Control Panel and checked yr configurations there?

Have U tried either updating yr Realtek drivers or rolling them back?

Is the correct Audio source set as Default? That's under Control Panel:Sound:playback. You should see a few different options available, try setting them all as Default one by one until you hear sound come out your speakers.

Yes. Was just going to add this to my original response:

I'm in the sounds control panel and it's showing up as being the default for my speakers, the green bar on the right even moves up and down.

This is really weird I've never had this happen before.

K....what happens when U hit the "configure" button? Can you test the speakers using that?

Have you tried to unplug yr speakers, plug them back in and let windows install them anew?

Is the volume button or knob on them up? given you are getting visual evidence of normal, which, it seems you are, possible someone could have, by accident turned the speakers off or down.

If trying all of the above changes nothing, pls look in Device Manager re yr sound controllers and see what DV says.

Speakers are on, mute is off. The rest of the list are AMD and can't be set. Volume's up, there's only 1 connection to the MB and I'ts the green connector if that makes sense.

I hit the configure button and it shows each speaker being tested but no sound. I get sound from the speaker when I unplug and plug in to the MB but that's it, the reverb sound.

K.....where, precisely are yr speakers plugged into yr box? And do you have more than one port for that?

How do they connect, via USB?

here's the speakers I purchased, can't find any software disk.

http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/speaker-system-z313?crid=47

K, like my even more basic Altec Lansings, yours appear to connect via the old school jack and not USB.

Windows-based computer

  • Windows® XP, Windows Vista® or Windows® 7
  • PC sound card or 3.5 mm audio output jack

Are you inserting the pin in the right jack? Not to insult you, trust me, but sometimes we miss the simple things!

Next, do have have another pair of speakers to try?

And, if you have headphones, pls plug them in and see if you can get sound thru those.

You should not need a software disk, you should be able to depend on plug and play.

How long have you have the speakers? If a while, did they function normally until now?

And what is this control pod thingy?? Possible IT is having issues. (Why I liike controls right on the device)

The speakers are band new just got them for this new build. I've plugged them into every output jack in the back and I only get reverb noise when taking it in and out so it seems like they work. I just tried to plug in my USB headphones and win 7 found them P&P but I get nothing from those either? WTF! The only thing I haven't tried yet are other speakers, that's next.

With the latest few Realtek chips, you are able to plug the speakers into any port and set them as any device (main speakers, rear speakers, etc) so it wouldn't hurt to try plugging into different ports and setting them to be your main speakers in the Realtek control panel.

Also, what do your settings in the Realtek control panel look like?

Have you plugged your speakers to any other devices to make sure they are not the culprit?

K....we have learned something via yr headphones test. If no sound via those either, I assume problem is not the speakers per se.

Just because you hear some what U call reverb....I assume static... when U plug the devices in, does not mean your connections are working.

Something in the box is not making contact normally.

Tell me, did any speakers ever work with the build?

Again, have you checked your sound controllers in device manger?

He tried head phones as I suggested, and no sound via those either. Not confirmed yet, but this is a new build, new speakers and kinda think no speakers have worked with it. But if the headphones don work either, wouldn't you agree the hardware not the problem?

And since in SOUND, he said (also posted screenie, see Post #5), he gets green bars, doesn't it all suggest some physical connection problem?

Wish he had a pair of USB speakers or headphones to try.

What USB ports did you try with the headphones? Also for the sound on the board, did you use the drivers off the Gigabyte site or off the CD?

That looks good. Have you gone through the appendix in your motherboard manual "5-2 Configuring Audio Input and Output"

I went through that portion of the manual and really couldn't find anything to configure.
