Here's the setup in RT HD manager, jack is plugged into the green one.

oK NOW......in the same interface above, hit the digital button. I would assume yr new speakers are only digital. So, make sure you choose digital.....I do not have this option, so have no clue what will appear when you hit that tab. But that just may not be configured right for yr speakers.

See how my set up has only modest options to configure, but YOURS does not......pls configure using yr "digital" tab.

Judging by the speakers linked and the connections listed, analog should be all that needs to be messed with here.

O..OK. but do we know if these new speakers are both analog and digital?
How do we know they are not only digital? And what would be the harm of his just trying to set things on digital?

I mean, I never had a system sophisticated enough to even have to think about that, but he does!

I concluded, after he tried the headphones and din get sound, that the speakers are OK.

But now I think it would be worth trying them with some other audio device....or another computer, just to confirm that.

Sooo frustrating this is!!!!!

Digital output has been out for a while. The speaker connections on that model are analog only. Should still sound pretty good though.

Well! Then, perhaps his Realtek is set on digital when that should be changed?

I assumed, since analog is mainly history for video, same might be true for audio.

My current take is it's something in his settings and, hopefully, not anything mechanical.

I also hope, when I suggested he try the headphones, he plugged them directly into the box and not into the speaker system. (That was desperation generated thought.;))

What else could this be, Ketchup?????:'(

Is there an equalizer? Can't see one or find one I've been on win XP for the last 10yrs this is my first trip on win 7 lol.

YES! In Spades and with whimsy! Always explore the interface to learn all yr options. Expand the drop down menu next to "equalizer."

Ironically, when I discovered all the options in my new RT Audio Mgr, someone here dissed that I got a kick out of it, want to keep it, saying nobody needs beyond what is in Windows.

It even has karaoke. Here is mine:
