No sound from speakers

I installed the SB Audigy 2 Platinum ZS today and installed the drivers. All seemed to go well, until I plugged my 2.1 speakers into the speaker jack of the card (third one away from the firewire port). I played back a sound to test it and heard nothing at all. When I put on my head phones, which are connected to the Platinum drive, I heard sounds.

I switched the speakers and head phones around and now hear sound through the speakers when they're connected to the Platinum drive.

I verified that my connections were correct, the speakers were receiving power and were not muted. If I'm able to hear sound through the head phone jack on the Platinum drive, but not the speaker jack on the card, does that mean the card's defective? Or could there be something simple I'm overlooking?

I believe there is a setting for enabling speakers, and disabling Mic. in settings for the card.

I've doublechecked my settings. Unless there's something I'm overlooking, the speaker jack on the sound card is DOA.

But the headphones were plugged into the Platinum drive and not the jack in the back where you tried the speakers. Look for a digital output setting in the driver. I have had something similiar happen to me with an SB Audigy and analog speakers. No sound at all until I unchecked "Use Digital Output"

If you mean the digital output setting in the Windows mixer, that's unchecked by default. I've never used that.

Well, not actually in the Windows mixer, but in the Creative Audigy driver. It's possible your card is bad, but I still think it's a driver setting.

OK, but how do I find the driver? There are a whole bunchof programs that got installed with the card. I already looked in Creative's mixer and everything is correct there.
