No sound from Denon AVR-2309CI CD Input

I'm using the analog (white/red) CD input on the 2309 to connect my Sansa MP3 player thru the headphone jack. However, I don't get any sound from the 2309. The Sansa and the mini-jack-to-RCA cable both work fine on the bedroom stereo and my old Yamaha receiver.
These are my settings under CD 'Input Setup':
Assign: Digital = None, iPod Dock = None
Video: Source
(I did cycle through all options, but why would a CD need video to operate?)
Input Mode: Analog
Rename: CD
Source Level: 0dB

Is there some other setting I'm missing? The other sources, BluRay (connected to 'HDP' via HDMI), DVR (connected to 'VCR' via HDMI), and Wii (connected to 'DVD' via Component & Ananlog L/R) are all working fine.

Well, the V. AUX input played the MP3 just fine. I hooked up my TV via RCA into the CD input and no sound. Looks like I have a dead input. Well, off to Denon RMA I go. At least I've only had it 3 weeks, so it's under warranty.

Some of those models have an "auto" setting for the input (to select analog or digital). Might be the last thing to try before boxing it back up. But I agree that it sounds like the input is just dead since you already forced it to analog.

I'll be the first to say this sounds like a setup problem and/or connection. You're trying to drive a line level input with headphone output.

I've tried every setting available on there (Auto, Analog, Digital; set Digital input to None etc.), and even did a microprocessor reset. Still can't get any sound out of this input. I'll see what Denon's support advises (opened a ticket last night).

I also hooked up my TV to the CD analog in, but still got no sound. The headphone output drove the V-Aux input just fine. Nothing I've hooked up to the CD input produces sound.
