No sound coming out of right earbud on headset

i have some platronics auido headset that i've been having trouble with. there is no sound coming ouf of the right earphone bud. sound comes out the left and the mic picks up my voice when i speak, but no sound is coming out the right ear bud, there was period that it camen and when, and now its gone. i'm thinking this headset is done, brokent. but i like it alot and it use to work really well. is there a way i can fix this problem, like through re-wiring or something?

Sometimes it's a bad connection or headphone jack - try a different headphone jack (anything will do, a walkman, radio, etc), and/or try twisting it in the jack. If that doesn't work you've narrowed it down to the wiring in the headphones, don't see a way around it without headphone surgery. Were they a cheapie $5 or $10 pair? If so I'd recommend picking up a pair of the Sennheisers with a mic that Newegg caries, px100 or something I think? They're reasonably priced and have excellent sound & build quality.

I've had this problem with some of the cheap earbuds I've bought. It turned out to be the wiring, so all I could do was trash them and get another pair.

thanks for the help guys, yeah i tried the jack switching and so it must be the wiring. they were 20 bucks from circuity city, so i guess i'll just get a different pair. but now that i know the earphones a wash, i'd like to try fix them for fun since theres nothing left to loose. does anyone know how to do it, or where i could find a site that shows me how to do it : - )

I haven't looked but I doubt there is website "howto" on repairing inexpensive headsets. I disassembled an old Labtec headset after one speaker died. After careful examination, I determined that it wasn't going to be doable.

You can still dimantle the thing to see what goes into them.

Leave them out at work, they will disappear. 😛
