No Serial Port on Compaq 715 Notebook

I have recently got a good deal on a Compaq 715 Notebook which I now discover has no 9 pin serial port which I need for telnet and interfacing with serial devices such as my GPS receiver.

I have looked for a PCMCIA serial card but had no luck. I have found a Belkin USB Serial adapter but is larger than I care to lug around with a notebook when I am using the GPS.

Any suggestions???

Serial ports are all but dead. 25 pin ports are long gone, 9 pins will be gone shortly. I would recomend finding a different connector for you GPS (like usb). I have no idea why you need a serial port for telnet, but I'm sure there's got to be another way you can go about it. If you absolutly have ot have a 9 pin serial port you'll have to use an adaptor of sorts, but I think you'd be better off in findind a new conneciton cable insted of an adaptor.
