No RPM reading for 80mm NMB Ultra Quiet 3-pin fans?

I ended up buying a bunch of the "80x25mm NMB Ultra Quiet 3-pin Fan w/RPM" fans from SVC, but I can't get the RPM sensor to show anything but zero on both my Abit KR7A-Raid motherboard or my Epox 8RDA+ motherboard. I know they are low RPM (around 1800 RPM), but I would think they should at least still show up.

Has anyone had any problems with the RPM sensors on these fans? Any solutions?

Thanks!

Mine don't either. Do you have any particular reason to need the RPM monitored? I think the threshold for most motherboards to pick up the fan's RPM signal is around 2000-2100RPM, for the record.

I've never had the RPM work on mine, and I've had other fans which spun at 1000 RPM, so it isn't the MB. No solutions that I'm aware of.

You may want to try hmonitor software, at least the free demo to see if it gets recognized.
The demo period on mine expired a month ago and the software is (so far) still working.

I suppose I don't have a real reason to need to monitor the RPMs, but I feel like I've been misled, and I hate that feeling. If they are advertised as "w/RPM", I expect it to work.

I've played with motherboard monitor and with hardware doctor, but they don't give anything but zero with either product. They also show up as zero in the bios. I experimented with the fan settings in motherboard monitor, but could never get a non-zero result.

bingle,
Have you checked the bios versions on the boards?
I know the Abit mb has a a bios update that addresses this problem. Not familiar w/the Epox board.

That sucks... i've got a bunch and the rpm wire worked for me.
Its these kinds of fans (incredibly low dba) that really need rpm monitoring.
they could all die and you wouldn't know.
