No Rock Band 3 in 2009.

Aren't they doing a separate Beatles game this year? Probably makes sense not to have Rock Band 3 and the Beatles game competing.

No need for a 3rd so soon. 2 has improved enough on the 1st to be damn near perfect so a 3rd would be overdoing it IMO.

I understand not wanting a 3rd because there's not much new to do. At the same time, I would have paid for a new more-of-the-same World Tour mode even though that would lump me in with the Madden diehards. 😛

I still hope they come out with new instrument revisions this year.

Maybe they should compile some of the DLC into a disc. That way I can grab it on the cheap if/when target dumps them.

I dunno, I honestly have no problem with 1 RB release per year.

To be honest 60 dollars(always can find it cheaper) for more than 40 songs is > 80 dollars for 40 songs (approximate DLC prices)

Definitely glad there's no new peripherals though.

I bet the reason for this is that Harmonix is a small studio and all their resources are going to RB: Beatles or whatever they decide to call it.

The next iteration of RB, though, will need some game play enhancements in order to make it stick. RB2's added better online play and band management as well as doubling the number of songs (not including DLC). That's OK, but simply having RB3 be RB2 + 100 new songs is not going to cut it. The difference between having 100 songs and 200 songs is great, but the difference between 200 and 300 is not. I pray they don't go the way of GH and GHWT with boss fights, cartoon versions of real rock stars and strange game mechanics. Honestly, though, I like the open fret bass and strummed chords that GH now has, but that's a relatively small enhancement. The music creator is a big waste of time, IMHO.

I'm a bit at a loss in thinking of what could be improved in RB. I know there must be something, I just can't think of it.

I'd pay just to have improved stat keeping and a list of all the songs with stars and scores 🙂

I'd like it if RB added a timer after pausing during a song. GHWT does this and it actually came in handy when I was at my sister's house using a wired guitar and kept yanking it out on accident 😛 (I'm too used to wireless guitars 🙁). It's small and probably could be added in an update, but it'd be something nice.

They did. Twice in fact. Vol1 and Vol2. For all consoles. I would love to see Group Addons, like the Best Of Led Zeppelin of Pink Floyd, that would be sweet and not clog up my HD with DLC.

The Beatles were popular 40 years ago. That game is going to fail.

Now Zeppelin or Van Halen or Ozzy, those have a chance.

You have no idea how many older people play Rock Band. I've got guy in their 40s and 50s in my office that play Rock Band with their kids or without.

You've also got kids who never heard of Zeppelin, Van Halen, or Ozzy being introduced to their music for the first time and liking it. Rock Band and Guitar Hero are driving interest from kids in older music. Same thing will happen with The Beatles game.

Because 10 years makes a difference?

I'm not so sure. In this case, they're hearing Led Zeppelin, Van Halen and such because it's mixed in with other songs that they do know. So it's like "Yay, I get to play Killswitch Engaged!" and they end up having to play these other songs and they think "Oh hey, not too shabby!"

The beatles game won't fail... but it may not be the current RB fanbase that makes it successful. There are soooooooooooo many beatles crazy people out there. Many of them would buy *anything* if it says/includes anything Beatles.... many of them may not have even played or heard of rock band before but they'll go buy this game just because it's the Beatles. And the Beatles are pretty timeless.... they have a lot of fans of all ages.

I was never much into the Beatles until Across the Universe came out. Now I'd probably spring for a RB Beatles game.

As for the objection to a new RB game, I don't mind it if they do, even if they keep the engine the exact same and just fill a disc with new songs. Also the option to make the whole RB1 game portable to RB2 was just an amazing idea, having all those songs without any disc switching is really what puts RB ahead of GH IMO.

True. I like maybe 25 out of the 200 beatle songs. I dont think the beatles became a good band until Rubber Soul. But, I would probably get it if its on RB only, not a fan of GH since GH3.

LOL, you have no idea how popular the Beatles still are. I've heard pretty much all their songs and I'm not even that big of a Beatles fan (and I'm 25, so I wasn't alive when they were a band).

And yes, I will be running to the store to be buying this!!
