Recently, while restarting my computer, the screen froze and then shut off. Now when i try and turn my computer on, all of the lights and fans spin, the harddrive turns on, but there is nothing on my screen. Also my keyboard and mouse and anything else plugged into the USB doesn't give any sign of functioning. I had a problem with the exact same symptoms a couple months back when i was switching cases, and it turned out to be a problem with the ram. I have 2x 512's with a 667 frequency and another 1x1024 with an 800 frequency. Before, i fixed the problem by starting the computer with the 2x512's, and then putting the 800 in after. i have tried restarting with every possible ram configuraton, i'v reset my cmos multiple times, and still i get nothing. I'm not sure if its a ram problem this time or a harddrive problem or something else, but it gives the same sympoms as the previous ram problem but isn't fixed by how i used to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I have not used Vista yet. Found this-

To get into the Windows Vista Safe mode, as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key" which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu. Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.

Note: With some computers if you press and hold a key as the computer is booting you will get a stuck key message. If this occurs, instead of pressing and holding the "F8 key", tap the "F8 key" continuously until you get the startup menu.

I am wondering if your monitor or video card died. Can you try them on a different PC or get known good ones to connect to your PC? Good cable connections, reseat video card.

it could be the videocard i guess, i know it's not the monitor cause i tried it on a different computer and it worked fine, the fan spins on the card and it's the only place i can plug my monitor into, theirs no place to put it on my mobo
