No response on desktop

Sometimes, just randomly, my computer will do like a semi-freeze. I will be able to move the mouse easily but can't click on my desktop or start button. I can still navigate through web pages via alt+tab. Then, it will eventually fix itself but it is rather annoying. Anyone know what causes this? I have Vista Home Premium 32-bit by the way.

Also, sometimes when I turn on a game, the computer will just freeze. I have to do a hard shut down because the computer isn't responding. I have a Go 7950 GTX with MobileForce M6 drivers.

try reformatting your hard drive, it should be more responsive afterwards
