No request anymore - needed a true-size scan of a thermaltake heat spreader

I'm looking to get an image scan of one of those thin thermaltake RAM heatsinks. Also, I'd also like to know the exact dimensions of them to verifiy the scan. Resolution doesn't matter; I just need something that I can trace.
I have in mind to make my own heatspreaders from copper that will be more efficient than those made by Thermaltake.

Edit: If you e-mail them to me, please crop them and compress them to a JPEG image. I don't like getting high-res BMP's via e-mail. 😉

I had that set, only got the heatspreaders now as the sinks went on a GF2 Pro (was the reason for me bying the kit) which I sold when I got my Ti200. If you still interested I can scan 'em and send the picture to you.

Egrimm, sure, send away. It only needs to be at 100 dpi or so; just be sure to tell me in the e-mail what the resolution is. I also need to know how thick the heatspreader is.

What I'm looking for now is the copper plate or sheet. I've only tried one hardware store so far; there aren't any big ones near me though. And what is a CNC machine?
 
I'll scan them tomorrow, have to make a written assignment for tomorrow now 🙁 so it'll have to wait. It'll prolly be 200dpi, what j-peg quality do you want (worst 0-12 best)?
 
The quality doesn't really matter; I guess go for the middle quality option.
Anyone have any suggestions on where else to look for small copper plates or sheets? I know they are available some places online, but I don't want to have to pay shipping on top of it too. I've tried two local hardware stores with no luck. Would auto places have something like that?
 
Why engineer when such a thing has already been measured and made? 😀
I'm improving on it then - I'm going to be cutting grooves in the surface of the copper then; that'll make it an actual heatsink, not just a spreader.
 
Forgot to scan it yesterday, will fire up the scanner when I get home from work today and make the scans.

They're 13.3cm long, 2.6cm high and 1mm thick.

Just keep in mind that the thermaltake spreaders are anodized for a reason- so as not to conduct electricity. If your "copper creations" are not perfect and happen to make some contact between bridges, kiss your RAM goodbye. Just something to think about.

jeff, you are wasting your time, some sites overseas tested memory overclocking with a nitrous cooled northbridge and memory, the ICs(the memory) have a physical limitation that once you reach, there is nothing you can do, you are wasting your time
 
Perhaps. But could the memory get to that physical limitation without cooling?
And hey, I'm in a modding mood lately, don't get in the way of the modd.😀😉
 
If the heatspreaders are aluminum, then the anodizing makes no difference. Al2O3 conducts electricity.

CNC - Computer Numerically Controlled machining device. Extremely accurate, time after time. Goes where you want it to, basically, and does it perfectly.
 
BTW, if this is going to be a fold-around heatsink, you'll have to decide what kind of stick you want to use it on. Some aren't are tall as others. If you aren't already, I'd consider two separate plates for each DIMM, and make sure the material is absolutely flat. Arctic Alumina adhesive is your friend (normally I'd suggest Arctic Silver II thermal adhesive, but there's the slight chance it'll conduct).
 
Actually, Yucky.. Jeff has another friend.. it's not alumina either.. 🙂.

Secondly.. it would be 2 different plates.. and just use the "spring" clamps .. simple as pie.. Anywho.. jeff you know you got my PM.. I know you want to take me up on the offer.. I'll let you be part of my most radical water cooling expirements this summer.

Yeah, spring clips; sort of like a paper clip thing that holds the heatspreaders in place.
 
Jeff.. I got another idea for you.. how about we just fricken buy one of the thermal take head spreaders?
I can get them for really cheap .. if not even free (i think).. if not they are only like 7 bucks.. we can split the difference. It would be a hella lot better then working with a scan!
