NO POWER-UP Brand New Asus P5B

This is the second time I have this happening to me with a P5B Deluxe. The first board was like this out of the box and after many, many frustrating hours, I sent the board in for warranty replacement, the next came back with no South Bridge heat sink and a melted SATA port, but it did power up. I complained and ASUS paid for shipping back. Friday I received a whole new P5B Deluxe, with stickers and manual in Chinese. I hooked everything up and the fan spins for a second and nothing else happens. The lovely Blue ASUS light is lit...so what!.

I don't think I am doing anything wrong, but any ideas out there if there is anything I can do short of calling for another RMA and waiting three weeks again. This has been going on since December 2007.

In my experience, if the fans spin up, but no beeps or anything (such as HDD activity), it's usually a CPU issue. I've also had a vid card produce the same results.

Try disconnecting everything. Remove the RAM, disconecct everything else, like vid card ect. The board should complain with long repeated beeps. That will at least confirm that the CPU is good.

Also, it could be a PSU issue. For that you'd have swap out PSU's. Good luck.

Hope you have spare parts. like Amaroque said, youre going to have to pull out everything excep proc, and vid to see if you get any output. Do you get hard drive activity? This is why i like keeping a low end psu around for cases like this. gotta rule out shit systematically.
