The computer turns on, but nothing else happens. Fans and mobo LEDs run fine, but nothing is displayed on the monitor and there is no beep. I've double checked the F_Panel connections and resetted the CMOS, checked vga/RAM seatings and power connections.

It could be a lot of things...
Was it running fine before?
If so what led up to this?
Is it a new build that has never POSTed before?
Is there a system speaker? Check to make sure.
It could be beeping with no speaker.

Common problems for these symptoms ( esp with no speaker ):
Incompatible CPU installed in the MB.
Defective Video Card.
Blown or bulging capacitors on the motherboard.
Motherboard is 1/2 dead only allowing the Fans etc to power up but nothing else.

On my old computer, my HDD died (clicking of death) and I replaced it. Then the computer refused to start-I would push the power button, the power supply (fan) would run for half a second and then shut off.

The hardware is all compatible and there is indeed a speaker connection, so there should be one. I tried removing the RAM/video card/HDD and just left the motherboard only with the CPU and heatsink/fan. Same exact outcome.

I think this narrows it down to either of the two being the problem-if this is a legitimate way of troubleshooting. I bought those two brand new, though so I'm not sure if they could be.

Not to thread-jack, but I am having a similar issue.

Elitegroup A780GM-A. Been running fine for a few months (6?) since bought new and installed, but yesterday the monitor just showed "no signal'.

I tried using the on-board video (removed the second card installed), switched out the monitor to a known-good unit, disconnected USB peripherals, and repeatedly hard-booted.

The box powers up, fans all spin, no beeps no POST ... no video output at all. Good point above about a speaker; I'll check but it seems like mobos beep without speakers these days don't they?

Mostly, yes they do come with their own speaker and way of beeping. I would just double check especially on an ECS/Elitegroup board. Those are just about the cheapest boards you can buy and not exactly the top notch.

Plugged a spkr in - still no beeps. I know ECS is well, ECS but this box was just for my kids, and mostly surfing, so not exactly subject to demanding use. Unless anyone has a bright idea how to troubleshoot without a display, I guess I'll contact ECS support and duke it out with warranty.
