No POST, No Video

My friend recently replaced 2 256MB PC2700 sticks with a single 512MB PC3200. As soon as the system was started with the new RAM, smoke came out of the RAM, and the room reeked of burning electronics. It was immediately unplugged.

We examined the new stick, uh oh. Some pins on the edge connector were blackened and burnt up. Damn. So we ran it without that 512MB stick (leaving only another 512MB PC3200 stick). Yes, this was a dumb idea, we could have ruined other parts. This time, no smoke. Everything powered up like last time, video card fan, hard drive, CD-RW, and CPU fan, everything. But there was no video or beeps.

We put the video card on another system, it worked.
We tested the RAM in another system, it worked.
We started the PSU up by grounding the PS_ON line. The multimeter showed good voltages on each rail.

I'm guessing the motherboard or CPU is fried.
It powers on, but there is no POST, display, or beeping.

Any thoughts?
Thanks,

Yeah. I just took a good look under a magnifying glass. 2 MOSFETs are completely burnt and cracked. Looks like he didn't fully insert the stick of RAM (you cant lock it in all the way with a video card in the AGP slot) and it killed the board. Just ordered a new one.
