Even if that wasn't rather embarrassing, horrific, and illegal (you can't "lock 'em up" for a crime they haven't committed yet), wouldn't it be utterly ineffective? Pedophiles may be physically/psychologically out of whack, but that doesn't mean that they all have uncontrollable urges. Subject them to a test and it's guaranteed they'll suppress their reactions to make sure they pass muster.

Not true at all. There have been volunteer studies on normal / legal sexual images and that is the method used. The brain will route blood to your genitals if you are aroused, you really can't avoid it.

If I recall one was actually about subjecting people to homosexual activity, many people became aroused, yet some did not, so I think it would be a safe basis for eliminating pedophiles from society.

As to why you want functional pedophiles in your society, that's another story for later I guess.

It's more the notion that, somehow, pedophiles and only pedophiles can't suppress arousal for even a few moments. And how do you make them stare directly at the picture for long enough to prove something, anyway? A Clockwork Orange's Ludovico treatment with the subject strapped to the seat and their eyes forced open?

I believe pedophiles should be treated or kept away from kids, but two things: I want effective and ethical screening methods, and I don't believe in arresting someone simply for attraction. Treatment and restraining orders, sure, but not criminal convictions.

You can't arrest someone for thought crimes if they do not act on them, however, if you can determine that someone is likely to molest it is probably best to keep them away from youngins.

Pedos have to make a living too and there are plenty of jobs to chose from....as long they don't have anything to do with children.

Prevention is definitely what you want -- I just want something that actually works, and won't be humiliating for the majority of people who have healthy sexual behavior.
