Tolerate? What are you smoking? The Incredible IS a Nexus One with Sense and a better camera. Where does it say there won't be a Nexus One on Verizon? Google has always linked to the best Android phone on Verizon as an alternative to people waiting for a Verizon Nexus One. The Droid Incredible is just replacing the Droid.

In that case, the N1 probably isn't coming to Verizon. That said, the Incredible is a better version of the N1 for pretty much the same price. Would anyone even want an N1 when the Incredible was an option?

Nexus One was probably the option Verizon, HTC, and Google were discussing. It was that or the Incredible...

And they ended up picking the Incredible, it would be silly to have 2 nearly identical devices at similar price points next to each other.

Guess Ill go back to smoking some opium laced hash now...

We won't be selling a Nexus One with Verizon, and this is a reflection of the amazing innovation happening across the open Android ecosystem. Verizon Wireless customers who want an Android phone with the power of the Nexus One can get the Droid Incredible by HTC.

Interesting that Google is pimping a phone with Sense UI on it, and an HTC phone.

There are threads thousands of replies long about problems with the N1, Google has been archiving the threads, recently announced that theyre through trying to find a software problem with RF sensitivity issues and the outdated touch screen issues are hardware related with no fix...

Honestly, I expect Google to kill the phone within the year. Its poorly engineered, and honestly Google just confuses the industry with it.

The only kind of thread you'll really see on a customer service forum are complaint threads. Hardly a gauge of anything at all. There might be two hundred thousand Nexus One owners or more right now and only a tiny tiny minuscule fraction of them complain about the device. The majority are probably like me and have never had any problem at all with the device even once.

Google also announced that if the antenna problem can not be solved via a software update, every single N1 user can send their phone in and get a fixed version once they release it.

You guys are way too tied up in the specifics of the phones, OSs and fanboyism, I'm just looking at the industry in general, its odd that Google is promoting a non standard version of its OS, the updates will be slower for one, there are a multitude of reasons that its unusual.

Im not saying Sense UI is bad, I think its great, and makes my HD2 tolerable compared to the standard WM interface...

While it does make more sense for Google to promote a Google Experience device over a Sense device (the N1 page used to point you at the Droid)...I think in the end, they want to sell the most phones they can, and the Incredible is a better phone than the Droid.

A Google employee posted it in January in the N1 help forum. It is marked as the best answer in this thread. The relevant part is bolded. If the antenna problem can't be fixed via software, it is covered in the warranty.

that's pretty flaky as I see it.... that's a far cry from "Google also announced that if the antenna problem can not be solved via a software update, every single N1 user can send their phone in and get a fixed version once they release it."

<= happy N1 owner with no issues

The guy acknowledged that there is an antenna issue. If it's not fixable by software, it is covered under warranty as a manufacturing defect. How is that a far cry?

How are they going to repair an engineering problem like the orientation of the antenna under warranty?

They'd have to produce a different phone and do a recall... Thats not going to happen.

There was a recent engadget article detailing google is no longer looking at a software issue with the nexus one.

i'll believe it when people with issues get their phones replaced and no longer have issues. would be nice...

I figure HTC doesn't want to make a N1 with CDMA just for VZW customers. Not worth it. Bet you Sprint and VZW demanded something better. One of them wanted the EVO/Incredible. HTC went back and talked to the other and got them both to sign on. It only makes sense to make a phone for a larger market. Probably got paid to do it and once they got the goahead with Sense it's just more streamlined development.

A CDMA N1 seems totally out of whack and will be the odd guy out. Just doesnt make as much sense.

This is messed.

October: Droid DOES.
January: Nexus 1 - SUPERPHONE!!
April: IIIIIINNNNCRRRREEDDDDDDDDIIIIIBBLLLLLLEEEEE!!!!!!!

Seem's like there's a hot new Andoid phone out every quarter, which seems like a double-edged sword. Always getting better, but always left behind.
