No multiplayer in GTA3 :( .... Petition now online !

That does suck. I guess they don't want to piss off the people who already bought it on an inferior platform. 😉

They should have developed for the PC first, then done console ports.

GTA3 rocks anyway but multiplay on it would be simply incredible.

Yet, I don't think that'll stop any of us from getting the game, will it? 😉


it ships may 21st, which means that with luck it'll in the "stores" may 12-13th 🙂





Perhaps they plan to release an awesome, MP only game later...who knows. It'll be a waste if they don't.

An add on MP would be best. Its the best of both worlds. We get to play GTA3 ASAP and MP later on, they get to squeeze more money from us AND give us what we want.

Its a win-win situation.

Well I'm not gonna sign the petition cause it won't do anything but that is very disappointing.

I played GTA3 quite a bit on my friends PS2 and even though it was like the coolest game ever, it got boring like just from me borrowing it or playing it once in a while. I don't think he plays it anymore... I mean there's the missions but you just gotta have MP to keep it fun for a LONG time.

 
IMO, MP wouldn't work well with this kind of game. As one guy said, he wanted to have gangs against each other and so forth, while they would be super fun, I think that would turn into one ugly deathmatch pretty quick. Pretty lame, if you ask me, when there's so much more to do in the game. This game works well as a SP game, granted some form of MP ALWAYS makes a game last much much longer nowadays.
I dunno, I just can't see a bunch of 14 year old kids who buy this game wanting to adhere to an actual gang/clan(like in any online RPG) and methodically kill the other gang. It'd be more like they hop in a car, drive around like idiots and run over whoever they see, with no care for what the rest of their team is doing. And deathmatch would just be boring, cause who actually plays DM games now? Team-based/co-op is the only way to play if you've got halfway competant teammates.
I'm not angry that they're not including it, I'll probably still buy it just to see what the new 3D version is like.
 
Actually Red, they could easily have come up with numerous scenarios for co-op play in GTA3,
from simply having an accomplice on the normal missions, to allowing a full team of guys to play a
"Gone In 60 Seconds"-type minigame.

Hmm, now that would definately be something I'd play. Just not sure if the arcade market would appreciate that depth and complexity.

You bet...GTA1 was a worthless 2D shooter on single-player but I could play it for hours at a time with my dorm-mates 🙂

Are they not releasing it with ANY multiplayer? There's no LAN support, ANYTHING? I mean, jesus... I used GTA in a damn cisco lab, for christs sake (ipx access-lists)... We need multiplayer... Games without multiplyer aren't worth the cd's they are written on...
 
I've already played/completed the PS2 version.. No sense buying the PC version now as there isn't much different except for graphical improvements.
