Only if they didn't charge me a $1/mon for something I might only use once or twice a year.

I only hit tolls about once or twice a year myself. Honestly, the $12/year is isn't exactly breaking the bank and it's worth every penny when I do need it and I don't have to futz around with bills and change.

More and more in CA are becoming automatic. Its f'n awesome and now my taxes dont have to support some slob making 50k/yr.

Nope it's going to go to some smucks in a suit and tie instead now.

While I think they make a lot of money, I don't see anything in that article where my tolls will be reduced when and if they switch to automation. On the contrary I expect them to go up since they have to pay techs to fix the automated devices. And of course I'm sure they'll jack rates for other reasons. This just in the price of rock salt soars, expect tolls to increase 22%

so will the bill sent to your home have extra "admin" fees tacked on?

For Colorado - because I am in the processing of paying for one tomorrow.
  • 30 days to pay in full
  • $5 late fee - 30 days to pay in full
  • $14 Collection fee added - 90 days to pay in full
  • Civil Penalty
  • $25 per unpaid transaction - 30 day to pay in full (new tolls are placed under this level)
  • $20 court fee /transaction - 30 days to pay

So it is possible for a $1 toll to be $65 after 7 months

Had no idea they got paid so much! I always thought it was a minimum wage type deal...
