China puts an end to unauthorized parties on its greatest landmark

Sounds like a good time. The Great Wall of China has survived Huns, Mongol hordes and Manchu bannermen, but the Western fashion for all-night rave parties may be a challenge too far, the government said yesterday. New regulations will outlaw the holding of parties and other organized "stunts" on all parts of the wall except those that have been especially restored for tourism.
"Inappropriate tourist exploration has caused damage to the Great Wall and its historical features," a government spokesman said. One party last summer, in which Westerners and Chinese were seen dancing, urinating, taking drugs and having sex on the wall, caused outrage among local media commentators.
