Tien:

I have some very bad news. Unfortunately, due to cost cuts which have been
mandated by the board of directors, it is my duty to inform you that we can
no longer offer you a paid position with GamerWeb.com at this time. On a
personal level, this pains me very much and I have certainly been hit hard
by this as well. Seven staff positions are being lost for the near future.

[...]

This is the part of the job I hate. I really wish this action wasn't
necessary, but we have no choice. Our editorial costs have been more than
double that of our competitors and unfortunately we can't continue that
course. The company is certainly not in trouble, but could have been had we
continued to operate so inefficiently. I know that no explanation will be
satisfactory and that the timing of this stinks. I've enjoyed working with
you and truly hope that you'll consider staying on board as a Contributor.

And it goes on...

They had a job section at their website, I e-mailed them, showed them what I could do, and I got it. There was a rather lengthy trial process, but otherwise I enjoyed it.

I guess more time will be dedicated to neffing here.

Mind going into a bit of detail about what you meant by showing them what you could do, and the trial process involved? This sounds like something that I wouldn't mind venturing into in the future.

It's your typical gaming site really..

www.pcgamerweb.com

I played, I wrote, I researched..

After a bit you really get used to telling others about games and such.

The money was nice too, for a 17 year-old.

Ah, got it. I've had the itching to run a site like loonygames.com for the longest time now, so this stuff is pretty interesting. One of these days... ;)

Sorry to hear that. Things aren't looking really good for any dotcom right now. :(
