No Mac address ???

on my XP machine (abit IP35 mobo's built in lan), I can get IP address and see other computers on network and transfer files but I am not able to go online.

I checked status and it shows 00 00 00 00 00 for mac address.

Tried resetting it by disabling it on bios and re-enabling it and also tried a seperate OS on 2nd hdd but still same issue.

is the network chip dead? or what can I do?

I am still able to network with other computers @_@

ive tried a prog called technitium to spoof mac.

but it still stays at 00-00-00-00-00-00 and I cant go online.

I think it is broke.

Did you set a mac of all zeros in the driver? The default on most Intel's that is not "use hardware" is all zeros.

Just a thought, and you may well have already done this, but it's an idea that popped into mind: Have you gone into your mac's advanced network preferences and looked at how the computer is generating an IP address?

System Preferences > Network > Advanced > TCP/IP

The Yukon NICs on a the IP35s are problematic.

its possible you flashed the mobo bios in a naughty way 🙂 that caused this.

google my digital life - you might find how to fix this mac bios problem perhaps caused by a bad bios flash. that is all
