No luck with Yahoo Support. Friend's dad locked from account.

What in the world? This is my first time on this forum. Is this just one of those juvenile forums, not worth the effort? I hate dealing with children learning to deal with their new-found confidence, from behind the anonimity of their computer.

To anyone who might have experienced this Yahoo problem, after about 30 minutes, I was able to get back in. Must have been a temporary issue.

You need either a thick skin or the ability to take comments tongue-in-cheek to survive these forums. Righteous indignation just doesn't play well around here.

Total misrepresentation. I'm only annoyed that the phone system leads me on by making it sound like Yahoo wants to talk to me...when there's actually no way to get through.

I'll give you a tip. Customer services never want to talk to you if youve got a problem. It doesnt matter who they are or what they say, in reality they just want you to go away. 😀

Tough crowd today. Just messing with you.

Welcome to the forums. Be forewarned there are some smart asses here.:whiste: There are also a lot of great people with tons of knowledge about just about any subject you care to ask about.

I changed my sig just for you. Sorry, Allisolm, I had to quite you for a while.

There are a lot of sarcastic people on the internet. Most threads are going to contain some jokes.

I don't see why you would even bother explaining this to anyone. If a person is so stupid that they can't understand how a forum works, it's probably never going to sink in.

Newsflash OP: a locked yahoo account isn't a serious topic. Sorry.

Who implied that a locked Yahoo account was, itself, a serious matter? The serious matter was someone needing to get documents for tax purposes.

I appealed for assistance and received it. This thread served its purpose.

I thought this guy was the OP. His britches are obviously and tightly wrapped around his sack.

Nice sig. Not as good as Rossman's but still....he said he'd share but wouldn't trade. Hell, who wouldn't trade for an Allisolm "What is wrong with you?" sig? Must be married.

highland lives in the south. you're from the north.

damned carpetbaggers. 😡

It makes me wait 5-6 minutes EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. before dumping me...always telling me "your call is important..."

"Your call is important" is standard call center drivel. It's meaningless. Also, a lot of companies turn on the "high call volume message" during the whole working day.. again meaningless.

Really the bottom line is that you're dealing with free support for a free service. I can't imagine that many people call about yahoo mail accounts to begin with, so yahoo probably only has like 10-20 reps supporting the entire country... and they have basically zero motivation to provide good support since they aren't making any money from you. If the guy has any hope of recovering his account you'll just have to be persistent with CS, but as other have said he's likely screwed.

This thread inspired me to log-in with two Yahoo e-mail accounts (circa 1996 and 2005.) Last time I logged was around seven years ago, yet both are still active.

Spammers are using your account! 😉

Their terms may have been different back then and you got grandfathered in.

I just tried to log in an old email account from Yahoo that I haven't use for a while. No go. "Your email account is being recycled". Oh well.

A shame he didn't use a mail client. "But it's all in the cloud!" Fuck the cloud. "Cloud" means someone else controls your data, and you can't even point to the machine it's sitting on. At least he learned a lesson, and perhaps you did too. If you care to notice that is.

100x this. I hate even the term "cloud"

Thank you for her email address....... Im gonna email her and try to get my account reset..... (Custromer support has been NO HELP)
I emailed her on friday and still nothing........ (Maybe she doesnt check her email on weekends I dunno)

I dont trust Yahoo to be frank, they have become quite intrusive LIKE GMAIL!!

Yahoo's email support system actually helped me reset a password that had an old work account as the secondary address on file. And they responded relatively quickly.

Can you give us info on what documents he is trying to recover (obviously without revealing anything personal), and maybe try to attack the problem that way?

Maybe she gets a ton of emails since the address is floating in the wild? Or maybe as CEO of the company she has other things to do? I'm guessing your request is in the bin with the hundreds or thousands of similar requests she must get daily.

I couldn't imagine emailing the CEO of yahoo for something like this and actually expecting a reply. I'm not trying to be mean, but it's a free email account. You're starting to sound silly by continuing with this.

There's a lot of assholes in here. Get used to it or call them out like I do and call them a fat cock sucking fucker! LMAO!

I should mention that a long time ago (5 years or so), my yahoo email got hacked. Given that all my credit cards statements and ebay information was in that account, I was pretty worried. I found a number for yahoo and called them. It was busy or it hung me up after a long time. I kept trying for many days until after holding for hours, I got through to a customer service rep. He asked me a secret question or something but the guy who hacked my account had changed it (he in fact had reset my bank login and ebay password too). The rep asked me if I had a credit card that I used to make a yahoo store transaction and I had done it once a few years back. Finally dug that card out and the guy validated and reset my account. I changed my password and got my stuff back.
Yahoo customer service was a nightmare back then.

Asking serious tech questions in the "Off Topic" portion of the "Social" sub-forum is going to bring you more responses than in the Hardware/Technology. However, you will have to wade through the responses to get serious answers.

It may appear that people are being dicks if you are new, but most of it is light-hearted ribbing, or long-running e-feuds between members that have "known" each other for a long time.

And then there are just dicks, yes. But all of the elements are necessary for a lively OT forum.

Don't go through yahoo. File for a tax extension (get an accountant, now) and request the forms he needs, from where he needs them, by mail to his address.

That sounds like a really crappy situation to be in. 🙁 It's one of the reasons I try not to rely on external services for important stuff like email.

I have this gmail I never really use but for the longest time all my domains were registered under it. Recently switched all that to my own email to be safe. You never know if gmail gets hacked or starts to charge or something like that. Though, I would trust gmail over most other providers. Well, as far as reliability. Privacy is a whole other story, I would not trust any big provider with that.

Also, this is why I let the pros take care of my taxes. I get my T4 and a few other documents in the mail, send them in, and a few weeks later the money is in my bank account.

QFT...what did he not get?🙄

The upside is that I'm the President of the new ATOT Welcoming Committee regardless of what Allisom says.

we have a welcoming committee? and it's not just shortylickens saying "Welcome, Noob!"?
