No low power mode on BFG 260.

So I was playing around with my monitor today (Acer P223w), and had to go back for a little period of time to an older monitor (ViewSonic VA1912wb).

I use precision to track temps, and noticed something, when I use the ViewSonic, power play seemed to enable itself under the defualt profile. It's never done this in the last 8 months I've used this computer with the Acer as the Primary. It went into the lower power mode of something like Core 150 Shaders 300 Memory 100, or something very similar.

But it will not do it under the Acer, or if it does, it does not show it under Precision.

What is going on here?

Any ideas? TIA

Are you sure it is the monitor and not a background task that is causing you not to drop into 2-D mode?

Are you using the latest drivers? I know they have made some leaps in the power saving mode since launch.

Random applications like Steam or IE can sometimes cause my gtx260 to go into 3d clocks. It seems to do better with the newest drivers though, so try those.

well I could see it being steam I guess. However it was really as issue of unplugging the Acer and Letting the Viewsonic run for a while. Nothing else was changed. And Right now I am running 182.06.

Turned off Steam, and didnt help. Once again, I didnt even reset the computer, I just unplugged the Acer, Power cord and DVI cord from the monitor.

Thanks for the ideas, but 2-d mode SHOULD be working right?

So after a little more tinkering around, it appears that it will not go into 2-d low when there are 2 monitor equipped. WTF is that all about? Anyone else have similar experiences?

My GTX280 with 2 monitors would not go into 2D clocks until the monitors are turned off by Windows. With one monitor however, it would run in 2D clocks until I game or do anything 3D. I'm running Forceware 181.xx. No idea whats causing it, but would be great if someone can point me in the right direction.
