I've had a few Sony phones and my friends have had them as well and they were all POS. All kinds af connection problems, charging problems and so on. It's a while ago so maybe they have gone better but as of now I'm avoiding Sony.

How long ago is 'a while ago'? This new line of flagship series by Sony (Xperia Z, Z1, Z2, Z3) started only in 2013.

That battery life on the Z3 compact is amazing. I'm tempted to get one now. Great battery life, waterproof, and great camera is all I really need. This phone checks 2 out of 3 points. I'm curious about the US pricing. I feel like Sony is finally coming around and making a slow comeback.

Ticks off a lot of my boxes as well. Great battery life, waterproof, and has a MicroSD slot. That last one is the one big feature IMO that iPhone severely lacks. Especially if you're using it for HD video. The camera in it sounds like it isn't terrible either.

Curious to see what the pricing is going to be like.

You can preorder. There are some Intl outlets that would ship stateside

350ish euro before ship, so 570 usd , which isn't bad for a compact flagship phone

The z3 is announced for USA, but not z3c. Huge mistake IMO

It was back in the donut/eclair days, so a lot may have happened.

Not really, we've gone back to the brick style phones of the 80's.

Umm, yes, a lot has happened with phones since 2008. Correct.

True but it was sloppy quality control and bad design. These issues don't get solved by faster processors etc.

It seems like many manufacturers have signature strength and weaknesses. For example, I buy Motorola phones because they usually are well built and have great reception and call quality.

You'd think the other manufacturers would look at shortcomings of their current phones and figure what to work on. For example Motorola's has shitty cameras since their first Android phone. That's not a sign they need to catch up?

LG's used a crappy vibrator motor in their phones forever. For those Nexus users, if you ever compare to a Galaxy phone for example, the vibrator quality is night and day difference. Not sure why they haven't figured that out. Disclaimer I didn't try a G3 yet, so maybe things may have changed. Sorry, just in a rant mode because I'm disappointed in my OnePlus One's vibration motor.

FYI I really like the G3's vibrate motor. It's strong and doesn't make a lot of audible noise.

Yes it is a sign that they need to catch up... but they haven't. Look at the new Moto X. Still mediocre camera (and great built, reception and call quality).

I'm not saying Sony phones still are POS but until I hear some more praise from places like this I won't take the chance.

Aside from possible problems I don't like the squared form of the Sonys. I prefer a more organic form that fits the hand (and pocket) better.

Been using my Z1 Compact since earlier this year and I will definitely upgrade to the Z3C. Phone has been fantastic.

I gotta wait for a charger dock bundle because I could not stand opening the little flap to charge constantly. Need the dock.

Definitely. And thats some which needs to be standard on all brands.

Either that or magnetic charging.

I've tried Z2 and it was buttery smooth. Z3 has a slightly faster SD801 processor. For some reason, on videos it doesn't really stand out, maybe it's that ugly wallpaper sony uses.

I'm highly interested in the Z3 compact, may be the successor to my Moto X when I go to Korea. My only concern is that I may not like the screen as much, as I've been using (and loving) OLEDs for years.

I will wait reviews, but leaning toward the Z3. Decided not to follow with the 2nd gen moto X due to so many having probs with bands/LTE connectivity
