Good! Now this will finally push you guys to go out.

That makes no sense. LAN encouraged people to actually go out, meet up, and play together. Now, everyone will just sit at their own home alone and play over the internet with each other.

Having LAN parties DOESN'T count as going out. Riding a bike is going out... Taking a girl to the movies is going out. Playing video games with friends is not going out, even if it means having to come out of your house to meet up with friends to play games WHILE INDOORS.

Off course, I gotta admit that having a LAN party for a gamer with no life, and seeing other people once in a while is a hell of a lot better than playing with yourself all day. (not referring to anyone in particular off course)

How is being locked in a movie theater with hundreds of people staring at a screen any different than playing games with your friends? It's still socializing, it's still "going out".

I disagree with your opinion on "going out" (see Piuc2020's post), but that is irrelevant with my point. It's not like the lack of LAN is going to make everyone suddenly decide to "ride a bike" or "take girls to the movies". Instead, people will just play on battle.net, which has to be less "going out" than a LAN party is.

I find it funny that going to a party is "going out", but if there are computers or video games there isn't. Watch about playing LAN at a internet cafe or computer arcade? For what reason is it considered going out to go to place A but not place B?

This royally sucks. The whole purpose of LAN play is there is NO lag. This is one of the big things that makes LAN parties awesome to begin with. Not everyone has access to a 2MB cable connection. And even those who do sometimes have reliability issues. Even Blizz's own servers sometimes have reliability issues. I play WoW for roughly 3 hours every night. In that 3 hours the Blizz servers drop my connection at least twice, sometimes more. Add a component that checks the CD key online and make that required for LAN play if you want. I have no problem with that.
I just can't wait for an SC2 tournament and the final match gets forfeited cause the Blizz servers dump its connection.

Sounds like you have a shitty internet connection ;)

That aside, I agree with your point. Tournaments need to utilize LAN.

Pros must be hating this news, considering that most online Warcraft 3 tournaments take place through Garena because it's much more reliable and less laggy than bnet.

everyone in this thread is making a big deal about a fucking non issue

Funny... if it's such a NON-ISSUE like you said, then why would people be making any sort of deal out of it?

Starcraft + LAN is like Peanut Butter + Jelly.

because AT is full of people that complain about stupid shit

i cant remember EVER going to a lan or group event in someones basement that did not have an outside net connection, you can play it through Bnet there really is no issue

pretty much 1 game per faction = 3x more content

Heh, you obviously have no idea how it's going to work. 1 game per faction = take the original game, chop it into 3 pieces and sell it. Same amount of content in total, 1/3 less content each "episode" for 3x the price.

I have never played the original Starcraft in any other fashion other than lan, with a couple of pizzas, a few good friends and a lot of fun. Playing it over battle.net is just the same as calling everyone here your friends and AT being your social life.

SC 1 - 30 missions total

SC2 = 30 missions per race
30x3=90

its 3 times bigger then SC1 on the single player side

Have they actually confirmed this? I wouldn't be as annoyed if they did. Until they have confirmed it, it is MUCH more likely that they have the content of one regular size game just split up into three 1/3rd parts much like EA does.

They confirmed it a long time ago when people were raging that they were splitting it up into 3 pieces..

It still doesn't excuse the NO lan though ..and also we shall see if they deliver on their word
