No Keyboard Error!!

I am getting "Keyboard Error no Keyboard found" when I cold boot the machine after it has been off for a while. Once I click the power button and restart a few times it goes away and boots normally. I have a Microsoft Internet Pro Keyboard plugged into both the USB and PS2 ports on a Soltek Motherboard. After the system seems warmed up I dont have that problem.

Any Suggestions?

(were expecting that, weren't you)

Why does it need both USB and PS/2 connections? Never heard of anything like that.

I have a Microsoft Internet Pro Keyboard plugged into both the USB and PS2 ports . I would hope not at the same time!! Keyboard should be either on the PS2OR USB. I hope I am understanding your post right..

EDIT: I see that the keyboard has 2 USB ports on it. Does this keyboard have 2 seperate cables?

I installed the latest sofware from Microsoft under XP and it seemed to say to use both on the introduction screen. I am assuming that when you plug them both in the ps2 port overrides the USB and it seems to only get used for the 2 port USB hub on the back of the keyboard. This can be confirmed by the fact that Windows recognises it as a PS2 KB when plugged into the PS2 and USB port and as a USB KB when plugged ONLY into the USB port. I know it doesnt make a lot of sense but I used it that way for over a year on my last computer as well. with no problem whatsoever. I guess I could plug it into the USB only and use it as a USB Keyboard but I am not sure if RedHat (my other OS), supports USB KB's. Other than using up your USB ports, are there any other negative ramifications to going to a stictly USB KB setup?

Look if there is an option in the BIOS such as "Halt on:". Make sure keyboard isn't one of the items it halts on, and that way you will be able to see if it's a simple BIOS issue not recognizing if the keyboard works or if the keyboard is actually not working.
