No internet at the in-laws - ARGH!

My inlaws live in a suburban area down the street from a housing subdivision in construction.

There is NO decent internet connection at their house! I can't feed my WoW addiction!

I've researched cable internet, no cable drop at their location
I've researched DSL internet, "We do not service DSL at your location"

Satellite is way too high latency for what I want...

I'm seriously considering ISDN - I've never had it before, but an old friend has(no idea where he is now)

If their phone service is with SBC, What are my options to set ISDN up at their house?

Will it be around the same price as Cable/dsl?

DN=digital network. it requires a special phone line, and dog-slow compared to broadband. Fastest I know of is 128Kb.

Your best bet is to get a good US Robotics 56K and run that, as it does not require any special phone line, and works much better then most (all?) other modems even on the same dial up provider.

Yeah, my current built-in modem on ths laptop can only get like 28k

And I agree, ISDN is pitiful compared to a "true" broadband, however, it's twice as fast as any analog modem.

That's a good idea, I'm curious if the cost of ISDN is comparable to the $80/month for mobile broadband here

We get so-so cellular reception at their house anyway.

in addition to cellular broadband you can look into wireless ISPs

theyre becoming more and more common, and can offer speeds and latency competitive with a DSL connection.

My vote is for a mobile broadband card. Don't even think ISDN line. That's 20th century technology that's dying out, simply because the speed is very slow and priced extremely high. Look into sprint as they have unlimited plans. If you can get a SERO plan, it's only $50/month. You can also look into a company called millenicom.com It's the company I went through for my mobile broadband card. They're a reseller of sprint service.

I work for a wireless ISP here in Florida. We Do way faster connections then DSL and Cable, specially on upload. And the latency is also much better.
I would stay away from ISDN, its old stuff. I would look into a wireless ISP or Mobile broadband from ATT,Sprint,Verizon ect.

ISDN is dying out... you might end up paying a lot more for it than you should simply because it's an old technology and by subscribing to it you're forcing an ISP to keep that ancient equipment around taking up space they could be using for something else.
