My extended family has a website on myfamily.com. It's a great way to keep in touch with aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. Today, I had one cousin post for the first time in months. She apologized for not posting more, and explained that she only has the internet at work!!! Now this girl is not strapped for cash. She's in her early 20's, newly married, college grad from Indiana, both have nice jobs. Why would someone not have the internet? Are we just complete nerds who have become dependent on this new technology? Or is the internet a universally accepted way of life now?

What would you do with your time? Read? Exercise? Gimme a break! :)

Freaking nuts. The internet is my primary source of information and news. Not having it at home would be foreign to me, and there are so many productive ways to use it. If a person has it at home I believe they simply don't know how useful the internet can be.

My family (except for me) did not have access until early this year.

If I hadn't signed them up & paid the bill for them, they still wouldn't have access. I moved out, & they'd have been SOL.

Tis one of many reasons.

Another reason, and how many times have we all heard this:
[/b]"It's not how much you make that matters, it's how much you save"[/b]

At home, I use the internet to keep track of my stock sales/trades. That's about it. Some internet but see quoted reason. When writing software 40 hours a week, sitting in front of a monitor is not a good sounding idea to many.

I too sit in front of a computer all day, but I couldn't live without the internet. I use it for so many things, not just entertainment. For instance, last night my fiancee and I designed and ordered our wedding invitations online. I do most of my Christmas shopping online. I track and trade stocks online. I communicate with my family online....much more than I would with only a phone. It's really a very useful tool. It's not the boob-tube of the 2000's.
