What website is it letting you get to?

What method of internet? Wireless? Ethernet?

Check the drivers under the network card that you are using to access the internet. I know on some of my XP machines here at work I wouldn't be able to access the inter/intranet unless that malfunctioning Kaspersky driver was disabled.

Thankyou all for your time and replies .

@BlitzPuppet - Its Naukarigulf.com but again besides its login page , all other pages open. but rest of the sites are not accessible. Its ethernet based connection . And i have uninstalled and reinstalled my ethernet NIC network adapter . Should i need to do something with drivers as well.

@ViRGE - Tried both but no help :(

@XavierMace - Yep . No Proxy .

Cant even ping to websites .
Although one thing is weird here . Since i have uninstalled Avira from this PC . One other PC in the same network start behaving the same ,ie, no internet , and it didn't even had AVira installed on it. It a totally diff PC with diff users.

Maybe your router is going bad or needs a firmware update.

Hello jateen, I would be interested in what you found from the last suggestion over at spiceworks.

Look for an NDIS filter under the network adapter properties. I know Kaspersky installs it by default, not sure about Avira but worth looking into. If it's there delete it.

The pages which were opening were only a few http and no https of the same website . rest no websites were opening.

no other AV was installed after that as couldnt find the offline trial of avira internet security.

even removed the upperfilter key from registry.

checked and there were no NDIS filter under the network adapter properties available :(

i tried pinging 8.8.8.8 and it wasnt doing that , so i restarted my router hoping for a reset but still nothing .

on the 2nd pc which started behaving the same after i uninstalled avira from the first PC , i did a system restore today again but even that was not willing to work.

Finally reinstalled Windows . but still , the same situation , can open only certain http pages (but not all http pages, neither any https) :|

how is this even possible !!!!!!! :hmm:

Thanks John . But i dont think i would be able to do that.
is it something that i can do , or should we need to call a network engineer ?
Also, could this be some switch issue . can these two pc be connected through same switch ??

Here is what I would do:
1. Go into the BIOS and make sure the network adapter is enabled.
2. If that doesn't work, buy a new network card (they are about $15 I think).
2. If that doesn't work, and if this is a home environment, you may want to tell the client to try a new modem.

thanks for the reply but now there are total 3 PC's which are acting the same once i removed the internet security from one PC .
I think its not a problem with one PC . something went wrong in the network .
Like some filter is applied to the swicht connecting those 3 PC's or something .

Why don't you give us some more details about the network. I think I can say that most of us will assume you are posting from your house/condo/apartment until you tell us differently.

Are you the network admin?

Do you guys run a domain or workgroup? Are all the affected computers running on the same switch? Have you been able to remove Avira from any computer and not have issues?

We have around 15 PC under same domain (not workgroup) , Avira was installed just on one PC , rest all are having kaspersky antivirus. SO, i removed it from just one PC but dont know how it affected rest 2 PC's which physically run on separate switches, as the lan cable goes to different plugs but i dont know if it works like that but i am assuming they are connected to the router through the same switch .

Sorry if its confusing but i dont have much idea about networking .

Maybe , but our license was expired for Kaspersky .
But i guess filter might be playing its role. But thats just one one PC.
Rest 2 PC's dont have any Filters on it .

Even on one , i had formated and reinstalled Windows. Still was showing the same . Thats why i think that it cant be any virus infection .

I agree. I would really recommend you work with your network admin on this, if you haven't already.
