An illuminated keyboard, a popular feature of MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, now comes standard on the 2.4GHz MacBook model.

So the silver 2.4ghz Macbook has a backlit keyboard, but the silver 2.0ghz model doesn't. Does that strike anyone else as messed up?

I think its for product differentiation, to help justify the $300 price diff... :(

lol...last time it was the black color for $150...now it's a backlit keyboard for $300

I really can't believe the 2.4ghz model is $1,599. That's just insane. At least put Firewire on it for that price, Apple!

Interesting, I didn't even notice that they had left out Firewire on the new version.

Yea, $300 = Backlit Keyboard, larger HD, 400mhz and a significantly lighter wallet. Its a load of crap if you ask me. Typical apple unfortunately, 25% step up in price for relatively nothing, especially considering they dropped Firewire and lowered the CPU speed on the next model down (actually, its been dropping since SR was intoduced, 2.2ghz to 2.1ghz to 2.0ghz). Sad.

See that's weird, cuz on the ordering page you have your choice between the English backlit and the Spanish backlit (I think it is Spanish)... so what gives?

and the $150 for the blackbook got your a few extra mhz and a larger hdd =P

I think pre-SantaRosa though, the blackbook was the same Mhz, just a larger HD and black for $200.

When I'm on the ordering page for the 1299 macbook, the keyboard option is keyboard english or spanish, but on the ordering page for the 1599 macbook it says backlit keyboard english or spanish.

it was. I saw it while pricing stuff out on day one.

And a flashlight just isn't the same =P anyway, the more and more I look at the new 13" macbook, the more disappointed I am with it. It really should have been cut in pricing.
